[Satellite TODAY 02-14-12] SkyTrac Systems has been selected by EuroAvionics to provide a programmed Iridium 9523 modem that can be embedded in the EuroNav 7 situational awareness system, the company announced Feb. 13.
The EuroNav 7 is a mapping and task-management system that aims to allow flight tracking and satellite communication without the need to have additional satellite equipment installed. GPS position data from the EuroNav 7 will be sent through the Iridium satellite network for display on SkyTrac’s web based SkyWeb software. The combined solution also will provide email messaging and voice communication options.
“SkyTrac is please to be included in the latest product release from EuroAvionics. They are a valued technology partner and we look forward to continuing to provide innovative solutions to our mutual clients,” SkyTrac President and CEO Kathleen Wallace said in a statement.
Financial details of the award were not disclosed.
