By Jeffrey Hill | January 13, 2012
[Satellite TODAY 01-13-12] Satellite imagery, location information products and image processing services provider GeoEye has selected Cleversafe to provide a secure, active archive to store and maintain their image catalog, GeoEye announced Jan. 12.
GeoEye said that in order to collect, process and analyze significant amounts of geospatial data, the company required a scalable and flexible storage architecture that could accommodate highest resolution imagery from its GeoEye-1 satellite.
“After a thorough evaluation of the storage solutions in the market, Cleversafe’s active archive solution was chosen to meet our needs for petabyte scale storage with unlimited future capacity and far exceeded our reliability requirements. The ability to cost-effectively scale without impacting or interrupting operations helps us reduce risks associated with down time,” GeoEye IT Infrastructure Architect Robert Poplar said in a statement.
