[Satellite TODAY 08-29-11] T-Mobile USA has introduced a new satellite-backed service for backhaul connectivity to government customers, which aims to enable first responders to stay connected during an emergency without having to switch to a different device, the cellular service provider announced Aug. 26.
The service, Persistent Communication Solutions by T-Mobile, can be used on devices capable of Wi-Fi voice service. The solution offers the user an option to customize the service to meet specific needs, including the ability to operate quickly on secure, deployable 802.11 Wi-Fi networks.
“T-Mobile’s Wi-Fi Calling for Government technology, combined with commercial satellite service and tracking resources, enables continued business operations that are more reliable, even under challenging circumstances,” T-Mobile USA Federal Market Business Development Manager Tom Casey said in a statement.
