DigitalGlobe Inks Precision Aerial Imagery Deal in California

By Jeffrey Hill | July 6, 2011

[Satellite TODAY 07-06-11] The Stanislaus County government in California has contracted DigitalGlobe to provide its Precision Aerial Imagery to allow the county government to monitor changes and manage projects, DigitalGlobe announced July 5.

In a statement, Stanislaus County GIS Manager Peou Khiek said that DigitalGlobe’s imagery complexity and refresh rates could reduce the time and money his county typically spends to acquire imagery.
“We previously used multiple vendors to source our imagery, which was not only costly but took a lot of resources to manage. DigitalGlobe’s product is easy to access and because we can select the specific imagery we need, it is easier on our ever-tightening budget. Our county GIS users can now get the visual perspective to quickly see where changes have occurred, or manage projects without always having to go into the field,” said Khiek.
Powered by the company’s Cloud Service platform, DigitalGlobe’s Precision Aerial product is acquired exclusively using Microsoft’s UltraCamG digital imaging technology following a partnership agreement between the two entities.
Financial details of the state contract were not disclosed.
