ST Microelectronics Unveils Transistor Line Co-Developed with ESA, CNES

By Jeffrey Hill | June 6, 2011
[Satellite TODAY 06-06-11] ST Microelectronics, a global semiconductor leader serving customers across the spectrum of electronics applications, has introduced a power transistor product for use in electronic subsystems on board satellites and launchers, the company announced June 3.
ST developed the radiation-hardened Mosfet power transistors in conjunction with the European Space Agency (ESA) and the French space agency Centre National d’Etudes Spatiales (CNES) and will design and produce the new family in Europe to meet regional specifications, the company said.
“ST’s move will not only increase the global supply of space-qualified components, but will also overcome trade restrictions that can delay project completion or prevent access to certain devices and markets. This new Mosfet family has been developed to meet space requirements and is available for the first time from a European manufacturer," ST Power Transistor Division General Manager Ian Wilson said in a statement.
