ITT’s WorldView-3 Payload Passes Critical Design Review

By Jeffrey Hill | April 18, 2011

[Satellite TODAY 04-18-11] ITT Corp. has completed a critical design review for DigitalGlobe’s WorldView-3 satellite imaging payload at its facilities in Rochester, N.Y., ITT announced April 15.
ITT said the review was a key milestone for the WorldView-3 payload program as it progresses toward delivery in mid-2013. The WorldView-3 imaging system aims to incorporate enhancements to the optics and sensor sub-systems to expand the applications for satellite imagery in both commercial and government markets. WorldView-3 also will include panchromatic and unique 8-band multi-spectral imaging sensors to complete coverage of the visual spectrum, along with two near-infrared bands.
"Our design for the WorldView-3 imaging payload, which will provide improved imagery resolution, is now authenticated. We look forward to moving into the next phase of assembling, building and testing the WorldView-3 payload," ITT’s Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Vice President Rob Mitrevski said in a statement.
