RapidEye Joins EU Joint Research Center Imagery Supply Team

      [Satellite TODAY 01-19-11] German Earth observation satellite operator RapidEye signed a one-year framework contract with various institutions and bodies of the European Union through the Joint Research Center (JRC) for the supply of satellite remote sensing data products and services, RapidEye announced Jan. 18.
          The contract between RapidEye and the European JRC replaces the former contract between the entities, which expired in December. The JRC also receives imagery under a four-year, 5.4 million euro ($7.4 million) framework supply contract with Telespazio and Italian Space Agency subsidiary e-GEOS signed in April.
          Financial details of the contract were not disclosed.
