[Satellite TODAY 06-08-10] Australian Satellite Communications (ASC) and satellite equipment manufacturer Cobham Satcom have launched the ReadyConnect portable emergency response solution, which aims to provide quick-deploy voice, video, private networks and Internet access to the Pacific region, the companies announced June 8.
Cobham said it designed ReadyConnect to eliminate the communications chaos that has followed recent natural disasters in the Pacific region by making emergency response possible even when all other communications systems fail. The solution is available off the shelf in four flyaway cases and includes two days per month of two-way satellite communication and training in the subscription price.
ASC support the unit with service provided by its iDirect Broadband IP infrastructure up-linking out of Hawaii and Adelaide, South Australia.
