Video Performance Boosts Eutelsat’s Results

[Satellite Today – 2-14-08] Eutelsat‘s strong performance in the video services arena helped the operator post a revenue increase in the second half of 2007, Eutelsat announced Feb. 14. Eutelsat reported revenues of 429.4 million euros ($625.8 million), an increase of 3.4 percent compared to the same period in 2006.
    In the second half of 2007, Eutelsat derived 319.3 million euros ($465.4 million) in revenues from video applications, a 10 percent gain revenues of 289.8 million euros ($422.3 million) a year ago. At the end of December, Eutelsat’s fleet was broadcasting 2,951 channels, an increase of nearly 22 percent compared to the same stage in 2006.
    Generating revenues from data services proved much tougher, with Eutelsat posting declines in 2007 revenues compared to 2006, the company said.
