Hughes Reports Record Third Quarter

      [11-09-07 – Satellite Today]  Hughes Network Systems LLC. posted record revenues of $233.7 million and a record profit of $12.4 million in its 2007 third quarter, the company announced Nov. 7.
          The VSAT segment recorded revenues of $197.3 million in the quarter, which closed Sept. 30, up from revenues of $186.6 million in the same period a year ago. The segment posted operating income of $14.5 million, compared to $13.7 million a year ago.
          The Telecom Systems segment had revenues of $36.3 million and an operating profit of $7.3 million in the 2007 third quarter. In the 2006 third quarter, the segment had revenues of $23 million and operating income of $6.3 million.
          Separately, Hughes completed integrating testing of its broadband satellite platform to provide cellular backhaul links for Telma Madagascar. The Hughes HN and HX platforms were integrated with equipment from several manufacturers, and Telma has placed these links into service. CDMA links support residential and payphone services, while GSM links support mobile services.
