TV Cabo Increases DTH Subscribers

      TV Cabo, the leading pay-TV provider in Portugal, is closing in on 400,000 Direct-to-Home (DTH) subscribers in that country. The operator reported 378,000 DTH subscribers at the end of the third quarter this year, an increase of 14 percent compared with the same stage last year. In total, TV Cabo now has more than 1.5 million pay-TV customers, the majority being on cable. Compared with the same period last year, this represents an increase of a bit more than 8 percent.

      TV Cabo is part of the PT Multimedia Group, a wholly owned subsidiary of Portugal Telecom.

      In addition, Average Revenue Per User is going up. It has now reached $26.90, an increase of 5.6 percent compared with third-quarter 2003. Revenues also are on the increase. At the end of the third quarter this year, pay-TV revenues for the first nine months of 2004 had reached $313 million, an increase of close to 14 percent compared with the first nine months of last year.
