The Space Systems Division of ITT Industries Inc. [ITT] was chosen by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to develop, manufacture and test an advanced imager for the next generation of geostationary weather satellites. Those specialized weather spacecraft are operated and funded by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
The brightest news for ITT could be that the contract is worth a combined $359 million. ITT plans to use the imager on future weather satellites that will be put into service beginning in 2008.
