By Staff Writer | September 8, 2003

New York-based Sirius Satellite Radio [Nasdaq: SIRI], one of two satellite radio services operating in the United States, is arranging to offer its units in an array of 2004 model recreational vehicles (RVs).

RiverPark, an Elkhart, Ind.-based supplier of OEM equipment and the exclusive distributor of Visteon products to the motor home market, is working to offer Sirius as a factory- installed feature to the RV industry. Each motor home would be equipped with a Visteon CD6 head unit that features AM/FM, 6-Disc-CD integrated changer, and Sirius satellite-ready functions to deliver 100 digital radio channels.

The CD6 head unit will have a digital interface with a Visteon Sirius tuner and will be bundled with one-year free of Sirius satellite radio service.

Motor home models that will offer the Visteon/Sirius system include Winnebago’s Ultimate Freedom, the Fleetwood American Coach Line, Gulfstream’s Sun Voyager, and the Mandalay by Four Winds International. In addition, Newmar and Monaco will be offering Sirius on various models throughout their product lines, Sirius officials said.

“These coach builders represent the top manufacturers in our industry,” said Steve Bollero, RiverPark’s vice president of operations. RiverPark was founded in 1981 as a national distributor of mobile audio products to the U.S. recreational vehicle industry. –Paul Dykewicz
