PTV National will broadcast a mix of programmes in the Urdu, Punjabi, Balochi and Sindhi languages
A PTV World, PTV 2 and Radio Pakistan have all left 4100 MHz vertical where they had been available in clear PAL. PTV World has switched to MPEG-2 [see above].
D The Philippine channel ABS-CBN has been replaced by Pinoy Central TV on 12610 MHz horizontal, SR 20000, FEC 3/4, VPID 1023, APID 1024. ABS-CBN has moved to another stream on this frequency via PIDs V1279, A1280.
D Two of the Italian channels here, Napoli International on 11603 MHz horizontal and SET on 11609 MHz horizontal, have re-located to NSS 7 at 22 degrees West.

D TGRT FM has launched on 11882 MHz vertical, SR 3400, FEC 7/8, APID 257 alongside TGRT television. Radyo Sweet is a newcomer at 11858 MHz vertical, SR 2400, FEC 7/8, APID 259. Nev TV is the new name for Hot TV on 12652 MHz horizontal, SR 22500, FEC 5/6, VPID 5168, APID 5169 within the StarDigital digital platform. Radyo Gold is new on 11727 MHz vertical, SR 27500, FEC 7/8 via APID 5267 in the StarDigital bouquet. In the same package, Eurosport and TRT 1 have launched in Nagravision-encoded MPEG-2 via VPIDs 5120/5136. APIDs 5121/5137. PTV World and Radio Pakistan have vacated the RR Satellite Comms package at 12613 MHz vertical, SR 3900, FEC 7/8. Turkiye Jokey Kulubu, the Turkish racing channel, has started regular free-to-air programming on 10975 MHz vertical, SR 5632, FEC 3/4, VPID 33, APID 34.
Eutelsat W4 & Sesat
D The PIDs for Lider TV from Azerbaijan on 12521 MHz horizontal, SR 4340, FEC 1/2 have been changed to V308, A256.
D Voice of the Broad Masses of Eritrea, an Eritrean radio station, has opened on 12659 MHz horizontal, SR 3000, FEC 3/4, APID 111 alongside Eritrea TV. Following the failed coup attempt last week in Mauritania, TV de Mauritanie and Radio Mauritanie were switched off for around 24 hours. This affected all of their outlets, on 3911 MHz RHCP here and 11938 MHz vertical and 11623 MHz vertical on Arabsat at 26 degrees East. The channels returned to all of these frequencies the following day.
A Somalia TV has launched on 4079 MHz RHCP in clear PAL with audio via the 6.60 MHz sub-carrier. The channel airs here for just one hour a day, 17:00-18:00. Apparently the presence of Somali TV on satellite is to air the proceedings from the Somali peace talks so presumably it is temporary.
Astra 2A, 2B & 2D & Eurobird 1
D London’s LBC 97.3 FM news station has officially launched on 12324 MHz vertical and, so far, is in the clear. Two new channels planned for the Sky Digital line-up are The Horror Channel and The Romance Channel. They are slated for a December launch. BBC Parliament is now on air 24 hours a day on Ch.508. During the night the channel broadcasts recorded coverage of select committees and a round-up of European politics. BBC regional news programmes will not be available on satellite for the duration of the forthcoming tennis championship from Wimbledon. The streams normally used the carry the local programming will be in use with extra interactive coverage of the major tennis event. A new interactive text messaging channel entitled Chat Box is testing on 11390 MHz horizontal in readiness for a June 16 launch. A new Asian channel, MATV, is set to join the Sky Digital line-up within the next few days. The channel will be well known to terrestrial viewers in the Leicester area as it has been broadcast there for some time. MATV broadcasts in Hindi, Gujarati and Punjabi. ACTV launched on 12 June and appears in the Sky EPG at Ch.271. It is the first UK channel aimed at the African and Caribbean communities and covers a broad mix of music, health, current affairs, documentaries, news, movies and business programming. Six new adult channels from the ‘Red Hot’ stable are to launch very soon. They are currently testing on 11584 MHz horizontal. The Asian music channel B4U Music is to switch to encryption on July 1 after several years in the clear. The channel occupies Ch.801 in the EPG. The BBC and Sky have finally reached an agreement over the long-running EPG saga. The BBC channels will retain their coveted 101 and 102 slots in the EPG when they go free-to-air on 10 July. BBC regional channels will use a new extended section of the EPG. Following agreement the BBC have dropped their complaint lodged with the ITC. New home shopping channel, Price-Drop TV, has launched on 11954 MHz horizontal. The channel airs Wednesday-Sunday 16:00-00:00 at present but is expected to go full-time soon.

D The two Orbit multiplexes on 11727 MHz horizontal and 11804 MHz horizontal, which were both in MPEG 1.5, have been switched off.
D Voice of the Broad Masses of Eritrea, the radio station from Eritrea, has launched via two streams on 11623 MHz vertical, SR 27500, FEC 3/4, APIDs 2121 – Arabic, Saho, Afra, Blien, Oromo and Amharic service and 2222 – Tigre, Tigrinya, Kunama, Hdareb and Nara service.

TV Trwam, a Krakow, Poland based children’s and religious TV channel, has launched on 12640 MHz horizontal in free-to-air MPEG-2.
D On 31 May at 10:54 12547 MHz horizontal, SR 11281, FEC 3/4, ID:’SERVICE 1′ was carrying a still shot of the Monte Carlo skyline. This was one of the main feedpoints from the Monaco F1 Grand Prix for RTL along with 12559 MHz horizontal, SR 11264, FEC 3/4, V33, A34. Video footage of President Bush’s visit to Poland was fed over 12702 MHz horizontal, SR 5640, FEC 3/4, VPID 308, APID 256, ID:’TVN24 WROCLAW’ on 31 May at 10:55 for the Polish news channel TVN24 from Krakow. The Italian channels La 7 and MTV Italia vacated 12630 MHz horizontal last week but have now returned. Radio Citta Futura, which broadcasts terrestrially in Rome on 97.7 FM, has launched in the EtilSat bouquet at 11084 MHz horizontal, SR 11315, FEC 5/6 via APID 769.

Radio Slovenia International has joined the Croatian Hrvatska TV bouquet at 12520 MHz vertical, SR 27500, FEC 3/4 via APID 206. BBC Prime has launched within the Polish Cyfra+ package at 11513 MHz horizontal, SR 27500, FEC 3/4, VPID 167, APID 108 in Cryptoworks/Mediaguard encoded MPEG-2. The Farsi-language channels IPN and AssyriaSat have launched on 12211 MHz horizontal, SR 6161, FEC 3/4, VPIDs 33/35, APIDs 34/36. A Telefonica promo has launched on 11205 MHz horizontal, SR 4000, FEC 3/4, VPID 4130, APID 4131 in clear MPEG-2. Several channels joined the OTE bouquet on 12284 MHz horizontal last week and then promptly left again. They were MKTV Sat, RTS Sat. Tele Asty, ERT Sat, Balkania TV, High TV, Extra Channel, 0-6 TV and MagicPeiraia. ITV [Poland] has joined the Cyfra+ line -up at 11513 MHz horizontal, SR 27500, FEC 3/4, VPID 168, APID 112 in clear MPEG-2. Radio Citta Futura has joined the Antenna Hungaria bouquet at 12149 MHz vertical, SR 27500, FEC 3/4, APID 257. Iran TV, Channel One and Tapesh TV, all Farsi-language channels, have launched on 12520 MHz vertical, SR 27500, FEC 3/4, VPIDs 300/302/306, APIDs 301/303/307 in free-to- air MPEG-2. At 18:00 on 1 June a corporate presentation entitled ‘La SNCF présente Le Train Capital’ was carried on 11614 MHz vertical, SR 6117, FEC 3/4, VPID 512, APID 4112, ID:’FTR/F.37/1/6111 SDI’ in clear MPEG-2. Rolling regional news feeds for RTL were fed over 11520 MHz vertical, SR 6671, FEC 3/4, V308, A256, ID:’TELEPORT KOELN’ on June 1 at 18:05. The Polish channel Tele 5 has launched on 11598 MHz horizontal, SR 27500, FEC 3/4, VPID 1124, APID 1134 within the GlobeCast multiplex.

D Live Irish football for Setanta Sport was fed over 12740 MHz vertical, SR 6111, FEC 3/4, VPID 512, APID 650, ID:’SETANTA’ on June 1 at 17:35. The match featured was Fermanagh-v-Donegal. At the same time 12732 MHz horizontal, SR 13343, FEC 7/8, VPID 512, APID 4112, ID:’T—–S—–‘ was relaying live coverage of the action at the French Tennis Open at Roland-Garros for NBC Sports with English commentary. The former Russian republic of Moldova made its first foray into satellite DTH last week when Moldova 1 Television carried out some test transmissions on 12536 MHz vertical, SR 6111, FEC 2/3, VPID 4194, APID 4195. Although the tests were short-lived they must be a good sign that the channel will return with a full time service in the near future.
D The Iranian channel Jaam-e-Jam Network has been replaced by Jaam-e-Jam International on 12595 MHz horizontal, SR 31830, FEC 3/4, VPID 84, APID 85 in clear MPEG-2. This multiplex carries feeders for the Canary Islands from the Spanish mainland and is in MPEG-2/PowerVu.

D A live church service was relayed on 12540 MHz vertical, SR 6117, FEC 3/4, VPID 308, APID 256 on June 1 at 14:55 in free-to-air MPEG-2. The feed carried the rather unfortunate ID:’27 ANAL SING C’. Over the weekend of 14/15 June 12702 MHz horizontal, SR 20000, FEC 5/6 was relaying the action from the Canadian F1 Grand Prix for RTL via two streams, ‘MAIN FEED’ – V33, A34 and ‘PIT CAM’ – V36, A37, both in clear MPEG-2.
