Mauritania Buys Hybrid Product

      InterWAVE Communications International [Nasdaq: IWAV], a Menlo Park, Calif.-based provider of compact wireless communications systems, has received a $1.8 million contract from Mauritel Mobiles to provide a terrestrial wireless/satellite communications solution in Mauritania.

      The interWAVE product will connect GSM networks in four remote areas to the capital city, Nouakchott, via satellite. The four outlying municipalities include the city of Zouerate, an economic center anchored by the mining industry.
