Intelsat Buys Teleport

By Staff Writer | October 10, 2002

Intelsat has acquired a PacAmTel teleport just outside Los Angeles. The new teleport will be known as the Riverside Teleport and has terrestrial links to one of the US West Coast’s major telecoms point of presence.

The Riverside teleport will be one of the ground facilities used in Intelsat’s GlobalConnex Solutions. Ramu Potarazu, president and COO of Intelsat Global Service Corp., said: “A teleport at this location makes good business sense for Intelsat because it can operate with satellites in both the Pacific and Atlantic Ocean regions.”
