Hughes Networks Systems (HNS) has unveiled a new digital satellite recorder for U.S. satellite broadcaster DirecTV. The recorder, which will retail for $200, has dual tuners, enabling customers to record two programmes at the same time. It has 40 GB hard disk drive and can digitally record up to 35 hours of programming. The recorder will be available later this year. “This low-cost easy-to-use product gives consumers complete control over how they watch television,” noted Allen McCabe, assistant vice president of consumer sales at HNS.
