According to Conny Kullman, Intelsat’s CEO, some 8 per cent of the operator’s global revenue of $1.1 billion comes from the sub-Saharan region. Moreover, African shareholders currently own 5.6 percent of Intelsat., while Telkom Limited of South Africa is the biggest user and signatory owner on the continent. Additionally, North Korea (Democratic People’s Republic of Korea) last week became Intelsat’s 145th member with a 0.05 per cent shareholding.
