INMARSAT’S MOBILE IP SERVICE DEAL

Inmarsat has confirmed long-running rumours by announcing it has signed contracts valued at $220 million (E255.53m) with Thuraya Satellite Communications of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates and with Hughes Network Systems of the US.

Inmarsat will use the former’s satellite to provide a 144kbit/s mobile IP data service from 2002.
