TMI Communications of Ottawa, the mobile satellite subsidiary of BCE Inc. [BCE], has been licensed by the Venezuelan government to market all of its mobilesat services in that country.

Together with its Venezuelan partner, Telecomunicaciones GlobalSat, TMI said it is now able to provide voice, dispatch radio, packet and circuit switched data, fax and asset tracking and management services.

TMI said the companies have focused mainly on the data communications needs of oil and transportation industry customers, although others such as the utility, forestry and maritime industries and civil government and military agencies also are potential users.

“TMI is very pleased to get the green light to provide mobile satellite services in Venezuela,” said Larry Boisvert, TMI’s president and CEO. “Working with our partners in this growing market, we will bring leading-edge wireless services to Venezuelan business users, wherever they are and wherever they need to be.”
