New Active De-icing System Available for VSAT Terminals
Smithfield, N.C.-based Channel Master has introduced a new active de-icing system for VSAT applications. The heating elements actually are molded into the surface of the reflector, said Channel Master. The company said the design will reduce the cost of active de-icing while producing better performance. Each defrost panel is covered by a heavy-duty, vinyl-covered polyester material and attached to the antenna by stainless steel self-tapping screws. The system is retrofitted in the field using a battery-operated drill and can be installed in almost any kind of weather, Channel Master says. Moisture and temperature sensors allow the system to activate only when moisture and temperature are below 38 degrees F. (Channel Master, 1315 Industrial Park
