Intelsat has chosen to move its headquarters from Washington, D.C. to the upcoming Tysons Tower in Virginia. The move will transfer 430 jobs to the 188,000 square feet location in Fairfax County. The company is expected to move in by mid-2014.
Intelsat received a $1.3 million grant from Virginia’s Governor’s Opportunity Fund to motivate it to choose this location. According to company officials, access to the upcoming Metro Silver Line and to recreational areas was an important factor for their decision.
Local government officials are expecting that the move will motivate more companies to relocate to Fairfax County.
