EchoStar Reports Slight Uptick in Q1 2017 Revenue

EchoStar has announced its financial results for the quarter ended March 31, reporting consolidated revenues of $433 million. The company earned revenues of $431 million in the same period last year.

However, Echostar also saw a slide in net income from continuing operations, reporting a total of $30.7 million versus $35.3 million in the same period last year. Consolidated Earnings Before Interest, Tax, Depreciation and Amortization (EBITDA) came in at $183 million, with diluted earnings per share of $0.41 (versus $0.54 in the same period last year).

EchoStar reported it had more than 1 million consumer broadband subscribers as of March 31 through its subsidiary Hughes Network Systems. During the quarter, the company orbited its Ku-band EchoStar 23 satellite at 45 degrees west to provide Direct-to-Home (DTH) services in Brazil. Additionally, Hughes signed an agreement with Thales and SES to enhance the delivery of Thales FlytLive In-Flight Connectivity (IFC) solution, and also launched a new transportable manpack terminal.
