[Via Satellite 10-25-2016] Television Entertainment Reality Network (TERN), operator of the INsight TV Ultra-HD channel, has signed a capacity and playout agreement with SES to deliver the channel to television platforms and audiences across North America. INsight TV is a global factual entertainment channel with more than 200 hours of original content. The range of programming spans from vivid cinematography to high-speed action, includes new original program titles such as “Dracula: Escape The Castle,” “Power & …,” “Extraordinary Humans,” “Living Stone,” and has more programs to come.

TERN launched the INsight TV Ultra-HD and HD channels a year ago across Europe on SES satellites. The North American programming feed will originate from SES’ MX1 playout center in Munich, Germany, where it will be fibered to SES’ teleport in Woodbine, Maryland. From there the feed will be combined with other Ultra-HD channels within SES’ North America Ultra-HD multiplex, uplinked to the SES 1 satellite and distributed to cable and broadcast distribution points throughout the U.S., Canada and larger region.

“Our European launch of INsight TV with SES has been a huge success, and our content trials have certainly indicated that our unique programming concept will be equally popular with the introduction of our 24/7 channel across North America,” said Rian Bester, CEO of TERN.

Bester shared more about TERN’s experience as one of the first Ultra-HD channels in Via Satellite’s September issue feature “Inside the Minds of the First 4K Channels Ever.”
