[Via Satellite 07-05-2016] Globecomm recently increased its capacity commitment from Telesat through a new contract for coverage using the company’s latest High Throughput Satellite (HTS) Telstar 12 Vantage. The contract represents a significant addition to the company’s Atlantic Ocean region capacity that it has on Telstar 11N. The capacity expands Globecomm’s geographic coverage and services to its customers in the media, maritime, government and Internet of Things (IoT) markets.

Globecomm chose Telstar 12 Vantage’s Ku-band payload to expand the reach of its DTH video footprint across sub-Saharan Africa and Europe. The increased power and larger service area is providing Globecomm with the capability to grow its DTH subscriber base. Globecomm’s new services through Telstar 12 Vantage also use the company’s terrestrial fiber network between its Long Island, New York and Laurel, Maryland international teleports. This design allows for full network access from any Globecomm location to be aggregated on to the Telstar 12 Vantage satellite.
