Boeing Awards $65 Million WGS Electronics Contract to Cobham

      [Satellite TODAY 08-13-12] Aerospace services and defense systems provider Cobham has been awarded a $65 million contract to supply electronic systems to Boeing’s Wideband Global Satellite (WGS) program, the companies confirmed Aug. 10.

         The contract funds production on three WGS satellite flight sets, with additional options for three more sets. Cobham’s Defense Electronics division will supply 1,000 modules for the phased array antennas on each satellite.
         The modules are made up of a complex power amplifier, beam-former and receive amplifier modules, which will allow Boeing’s WGS satellites to transmit and receive communications.
