[Satellite TODAY 03-19-12] Yahsat has signed a master service agreement with Astrium that aims to promote and lease military Ka-band capacity under the service brand YahSecure, YahSat announced March 14.

The service agreement, signed at the SATELLITE 2012  conference and trade show, will target military end-users of several applications.
YahSat recently hosted a visit by the U.K. Secretary of State for Defense, Philip Hammond at the UAE embassy. Hammond and a delegation of senior U.K. officials were received by: Jassem Mohamed Al Zaabi, Executive Director of Mubadala’s Information Communication Technology (ICT) unit; Rashed Al Ghafri, General Manager of YahService; and a delegation of senior officials of the UAE Armed Forces.
“This new agreement confirms YahSecure’s position as the first commercial satellite communication service to provide foreign governments and military forces with military Ka-band capacity, the optimum satellite communications band for government and military missions,” YahSat said in a company statement.
