[Satellite TODAY 09-24-10] Canadian information solutions provider MDA has received a $6.1 million contract extension from NASA to continue providing sustaining engineering services supporting the agency’s Space Shuttle Canadarm program, MDA announced Sept. 23.
The contract expands a deal initially signed between NASA and MDA in January 2008 and includes options for an additional $8.3 million that could extend work through to 2012.
MDA also will continue to provide support services for NASA’s Robotic Work Station and International Space Station Berthing Cue technologies. “As the preeminent supplier of robotics for manned spaceflight for nearly three decades, we look forward to applying this expertise to the next generation solutions for exciting future unmanned missions and exploration initiatives,” MDA Vice President Steve Oldham said in a statement.
MDA’s NASA contract extension follows a $5.8 million deal the company won Sept. 22 with the Canadian Space Agency to provide an advanced technology solution for CSA’s Exploration Surface Mobility program.
