[Satellite Today 07-09-09] Telespazio has taken over management of a Galileo satellite constellation control center, the company said July 8.
Telespazio will begin cabling the entire structure as well as installing and integrating required systems and equipment for the satellite constellation and mission. The company said its work will begin on the areas dedicated to security, navigation signal generation systems, orbital management and atomic clocks.
The control center for the Galileo constellation and mission, co-financed by the Abruzzo region through framework agreement signed in December 2005 with Finmeccanica, covers an area of around 5,000 square meters. The control center is expected to be fully operational and will be inaugurated this fall.
