Nynex Satellite-Supported FlexACM Replaces Fiber to Middle East, Central Asia

By Staff Writer | February 8, 2011

VSAT system integrator Nynex has installed Newtec’s FlexACM technology at the IABG teleport in Ottobrunn, Germany, to provide new coverage for the Middle East and Central Asia region and replace existing fiber connections.
The Nynex FlexACM infrastructure runs on three transponders on the Eutelsat W48 satellite located at 48 degrees East. The network also delivers Internet trunking for high-speed connectivity in Iraq and Afghanistan via Wimax and 3G networks.
“By combining Nynex’ Monitoring and Control System, the advantage of an inclined satellite and the high performance of Newtec’s Elevation technology with the robustness of Newtec’s FlexACM solution, we can now easily deliver 100 megabit rates, much better service availability and a more appropriate solution to our customers in the region. We are already working on an extension of this service for Africa as an alternative solution to the very expensive and unreliable fiber optics Internet backbone there,” Nynex Managing Director Andreas Buxbaum said in a statement.
