Intelsat Benefits from New Service Launch Campaign

By Jeffrey Hill | November 12, 2012

Intelsat reported $654.9 million revenue and a net loss of $34.5 million for its 2012 third quarter ending Sept. 30, the satellite service provider announced Nov. 5. XXXXX Intelsat also reported a $471.1 million EBITDA and an adjusted EBITDA of 78 percent of revenue, $511.3 million, for its third quarter of 2012.
According to Intelsat CEO Dave McGlade, Intelsat achieved this expected increased sequential revenue growth due to expanded capacity and the introduction of a hosted payload service and he expects the total 2012 revenue to be slightly higher than 2011.
"Our launch campaign progressed with successful launches of Intelsat 20 and Intelsat 21 in the third quarter; both satellites are now in service. On Oct. 14, we completed our fifth and final launch for this year, Intelsat 23, which is now completing in-orbit testing,” McGlade said in a statement. “Demand for broadband connectivity for mobility applications, such as maritime and aeronautical, is opening new growth avenues for our satellite infrastructure. As our global Ku-band broadband mobility platform nears completion, Intelsat is positioned for an early lead in serving these important growth segments."
