By Jeffrey Hill | September 8, 2012

Amos satellite fleet operator Spacecom has signed a follow-on, long-term capacity contract with Hungarian company Magyar Telekom, which is worth up to $7 million, Spacecom announced Sept. 4.
Magyar Telekom, a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom, will use the Spacecom capacity at 4 degrees West to dedicate more bandwidth to its T-Home SatTV DTH service and expand the number of channels it broadcasts. Magyar Telekom currently broadcasts more than 100 channels throughout Hungary and Slovakia. The company’s expanding relationship with Spacecom includes up to $14 million in contracts.
“This extension with Amos will enable us to develop and grow our popular platform,” Magyar Telekom Head of Product Development Balazs Birck said in a statement. “The broadcasting market in Hungary is on track to continue its expansion, and together with Amos, we will be able to bring more HD channels and add further services to meet the market’s increasing needs.”
