      SES Appoints Karim Michel Sabbagh as New CEO and President

      SES announced that the company’s President and CEO Romain Bausch plans to step down from his position at the next annual general meeting of shareholders in April 2014. SES also announced that it had selected Karim Michel Sabbagh as Bausch’s successor. Sabbagh will join the company on Sept. 1 as CEO designate and, following a transition period, will officially take up the position of president and CEO on April 3, 2014.

      AST Appoints Satcom Global’s Sandy Johnson

      Global MSS provider Applied Satellite Technology (AST) has announced that Sandy Johnson, former COO of Satcom Global, will join the company to assist in business development and strategy. AST is a Tier 1 provider of satellite airtime and a distribution partner for satellite and radio equipment throughout the world.

      European Satellite Operators Association Elects Eutelsat CEO as New Chairman

      The Board of the European Satellite Operators Association (ESOA) elected Michel de Rosen, CEO of Eutelsat, as its new chairman of the board. De Rosen succeeds Cato Halsaa, former CEO of Telenor. Dave McGlade, CEO of Intelsat, will remain first vice-chairman, and Rupert Pearce, CEO of Inmarsat, was elected second vice-chairman.

      ESOA aims at ensuring recognition of the role of satellites by demonstrating the industry’s use of radio frequencies and by promoting an honest debate about what spectrum is actually required for what services, de Rosen said in a statement.
