      Azerspace-1/Africasat-1a Enters Full Commercial Service

      The Azerspace-1/Africasat-1a satellite has successfully completed in-orbit testing and entered full commercial service. The spacecraft will provide communications services to customers in Azerbaijan, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia. The satellite provides Ku-band capacity over Europe and Central Asia, and C- band capacity over Africa, Central Asia, the Middle East and Europe.

      Hughes Gains New African Deal

      The African Development Bank (AfDB) has signed a contract with Hughes Network Systems to expand managed satellite services for the bank and to provide MPLS connectivity in the region.

      Under the expansion contract, Hughes will provide MPLS circuits at four AfDB sites, with backhaul (STM1) services to its Temporary Relocation Agency in Tunis, Tunisia from a teleport in Germany.

      SkyStream Hooks Up New SES Contract

      SkyStream has renewed a multi-year deal on SES’ NSS-6 satellite at 95 degrees East to provide reliable connectivity to its maritime, and oil & gas customers via secure VSAT networks.

      SkyStream will use the Ku-band capacity on the SES satellite to deliver corporate VPN services across Iraq, Afghanistan and other key countries, to provide reliable connectivity to its customers.
