ViaSat Rolls Out Newsgathering Version of Exede Service

ViaSat has introduced a newsgathering version of its ViaSat-1-powered Exede broadband service that aims to enable broadcast journalists to capture, edit and deliver full HD stories from the field.

ViaSat said its new Exede Newsgathering terminals could either be vehicle-mounted or transported in a luggage-sized carrying case. The bandwidth capacity depth features of the unit aim to reduce the need for broadcasters to compete for limited bandwidth with other on-scene reporters.

The service will be available immediately in the United States on a select basis with general availability by the end of this year.
