[Satellite Today – 3-6-08] The U.S. Navy's Space and Naval Warfare (Spawar) Systems Center has awarded seven companies contracts to bid on portable satellite communications terminals, the Navy  announced March 4.
    The contract, awarded to CVG Incorporated, RSI Maryland Inc., Globecomm Systems Inc., L-3 Communications Corp. Communications Systems West, L-3 Communications Corp. Narda Microwave-East, ND Satcom Inc. and Swe-Dish Satellite Systems Inc.,  has a total value of up to $491 million over five years for all suppliers.
    Both Swe-Dish and Globecomm reported that their share of the contract in the base year is valued at $32 million, while the contract carries a total potential value of $175 million if all option years are exercised.
