ILS Appoints Execs to Boost Confidence in Proton’s Reliability

[Via Satellite 10-02-2015] In order to restore faith in Proton, International Launch Services (ILS) has implemented an organizational realignment to expand the role of engineering and mission assurance. The company has appointed Jim Kramer, formerly VP of sales, marketing and communications, and also formerly ILS’ chief engineer, as VP of engineering and mission assurance. Thomas Carroll, who has more than 30 years of global sales experience, was appointed as VP of sales. The moves follow the recent appointment of Kirk Pysher as president of ILS, who replaced Phil Slack last month. ILS conducted these changes to re-establish customer trust and confidence in using Proton launch services by improving reliability, insight and oversight.

Kramer has 30 years of experience in the industry, and will focus on mission assurance, and technical insight of production processes, procedures and mission assurance initiatives. He will also be responsible for oversight and insight into ILS Proton and Angara product development activities at Khrunichev State Research and Space Production Center. Kramer will be the primary interface with customers and the insurance community to communicate the plans, status and progress of initiatives targeted at improving mission assurance and product improvements within Khrunichev.
