[Via Satellite 05-05-2015] Israel-based NovelSat has donated a number of NS3000 professional satellite modems to an Asia-based satellite teleport and solutions integrator to aid the in the relief effort following the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck Nepal on April 25. The modems, equipped with all efficiency and resiliency features enabled, were deployed as part of mobile communications centers at the quake scene. Emergency responders are using the devices to replace terrestrial communications infrastructure that was destroyed or debilitated by the earthquake, as well as to help in the immediate task of coordinating the rescue and aid effort.

“The devastation in Nepal is heartbreaking,” said NovelSat CEO Itzik Wulkan. “We are fortunate to have had the opportunity to donate needed tools like NS3000 satellite modems that are helping save lives by improving communication at the scene of the quake.”

Several satellite companies, operators and organizations have galvanized to provide resources and expertise in Nepal following the disaster.
