GeoEye, Esri to Launch New Crisis-Response Imagery Service this Spring

[Satellite TODAY 02-27-12] GeoEye has entered into a strategic partnership with global geographic information software provider Esri to jointly develop a new crisis response imagery service, the companies confirmed Feb. 24.
GeoEye said the service would be released this spring, combining its ability to task its satellite to collect high-resolution satellite imagery after a crisis with Esri’s current disaster response capability. The new bundled solution will be targeted to first responders, government users and commercial risk organizations that deal with global crisis events.
“Geospatial technology plays a critical role in determining where resources should be deployed most effectively after a crisis. We feel confident that Esri users will see immediate benefits when they leverage timely GeoEye event imagery and Esri support through this service,” GeoEye Senior Vice President of Sales Chris Tully said in a statement.
GeoEye and Esri announced their first joint product offering, GeoEye Image Pack, in July 2011.
