MDA Inks FAA IPDS Upgrade Contract Extension

By | February 2, 2012
[Satellite TODAY 02-02-12] MDA has signed a group of contracts with the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to continue upgrading the FAA’s Instrument Procedure Development System (IPDS), MDA announced Feb. 1.
The contracts total $7.6 million and represent a part of MDA’s FAA mission support automation program. MDA will provide the FAA with operational support to the currently fielded version of the IPDS system.
IPDS was designed to allow the FAA and the U.S. Department of Defense to create an automated solution to modernize flight route design practices and harmonize military and civilian air navigation in the long-term.
MDA, which has been providing on-going services related to implementation and integration of the upgrades to the FAA since January 2007, said it hopes the latest contracts will continue to align the system with the requirements of the FAA’s NextGen program.
