By Jeffrey Hill | November 11, 2011
[Satellite TODAY 11-11-11] Lockheed Martin has issued a subcontract to A.I. Solutions to supply its FreeFlyer software supporting the upgrade of the NASA JSC Mission Control Center’s Core Trajectory Subsystem (CTS), the companies confirmed Nov. 10.
The contract has an initial value of $3.2 million with options for additional support and development. FreeFlyer, a commercial-off-the-shelf software application used in satellite mission analysis, design, and operations, aims to provide comprehensive flight dynamics functionality, including trajectory and maneuver planning, orbit determination, attitude modeling, and detailed coverage analysis.
FreeFlyer can be integrated with the existing Johnson Mission Control Center software to preserve legacy functionality while providing a framework to infuse future capabilities and technologies.
“FreeFlyer is designed to fit a wide range of mission requirements, making it ideally suited for modernizing the CTS at Johnson Space Center. The CTS upgrade is the latest project over more than a decade of supporting NASA missions,” A.I. Solutions President and CEO Bob Sperling said in a statement.
