[Satellite TODAY 03-28-11] The Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) has launched its 2011 European Satellite Navigation competition for the Taiwanese region, ITRI announced March 25.
The institute said the competition would focus on wireless access applications in vehicular environments and dedicated short-range communications. "By sponsoring the first hands-on applications competition, ITRI sets a significant milestone because past competitions focused mainly on conceptual innovations," ITRI said in a statement.
ITRI is also managing the European Union’s Prototyping Topic of Galileo Pro competition with focus on developments of wireless access applications. Prototype applications can be submitted to ITRI by June 30 for commercial release and marketing consideration. The competition, which starts April 1, holds a top prize of 10,000 euros ($14,000).
