[Satellite TODAY 09-30-10] The European Association for the Protection of Encrypted Works and Services (AEPOC) released a new action plan bring about a broader anti-piracy strategy in Europe, AEPOC announced Sept. 29.
Framework of the new action plan involves establishing four work groups as standing committees to manage areas of intelligence, regulatory & lobbying, membership, marketing and finance. All work groups will report to AEPOC’s board of directors.
AEPOC president Philippe-Olivier Rousseau and Vice Presidents Christine Maury-Panis of Viaccess and Michael Barley of BSkyB spearheaded the development of the new action plan over the course of this year. “AEPOC’s new action plan builds the ground to more actively assess and effectively coordinate initiatives to address audio-visual piracy and foster the way for increased industry cooperation among the members, which are leaders in their respective markets. With an enhanced organizational structure and more work resources clearly attributed, this initiative shall be instrumental in unlocking the potential inherent in AEPOC to take the Association to the next level in the fight against audio-visual piracy in Europe – and beyond,” Rousseau said in a statement.
