Poll: Majority of Satellite TODAY Readers Unhappy with Obama Space Policy

By Staff Writer | August 26, 2010

[Satellite TODAY 08-26-10] In response to our recent Satellite TODAY poll, “Is President Obama’s new National Space Policy good or bad for the satellite industry?” a 46 percent majority of respondents answered that Obama’s plans were “Bad for the satellite industry.”
About 27 percent said they believed Obama’s space policies would benefit the satellite industry and another 27 percent stating that the policy would not affect the industry at all.
The Obama administration has been working on a new National Space Policy over the past year, seeking to establish grounds for new international partnerships on civil space and space situational awareness programs, while shifting more reliance on commercial launch alternatives over NASA-built launch vehicles.
