[Satellite TODAY 04-21-10] Integral Systems has entered into a partnership agreement with Aleut Communications Services to relocate the operational satellite ground system equipment of the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration‘s (NOAA) satellite operations facility in Fairbanks, Alaska, Integral announced April 20.
Integral Systems and Aleut will disassemble, move, reassemble and test the system’s equipment in its transition to the NOAA’s new facility, which is also located in Fairbanks.
The relocated systems support a variety of NOAA missions, including the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program, Television Infrared Operational Satellite, Geostationary Observational Environmental Satellite, Ocean Surface Topography Mission, Initial Joint Polar-Orbiting Operational Satellite System and the Constellation Observing System for Meteorology, Ionosphere and Climate.
“To be able to move to a new location without disrupting essential services ensures continuity of operations for the critical satellite missions NOAA supports,” Aleut Communications Services President and COO Gary Cohn said in a statement.
