[Satellite Today 09-19-08] Trac Networks, a provider of wireless telecommunication systems to oil related companies, and Wavefield Inseis ASA, a Norwegian marine geophysical company, have implemented a DVB-RCS system on the DNV class oil tanker, the M/V Malene Ostervold in seismic worldwide operation, the companies announced Sept. 19.
Trac Networks has delivered the DVB-RCS satellite communication solution with the cooperation of antenna manufacturer, C2SAT.
The offshore industry’s demand for asymmetric satellite services was cited by Trac Networks as a motivator for providing higher bandwidth ship-to-shore communications and predicted by the company to have a strong growth forecast.
