Imtech Marine has signed two contracts to build two maritime vessels and supply satellite technology for two oil and gas firms, Imtech announced Aug. 27.
Imtech supply a range of satellite technology to a ferry operated by Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft (FSG) and to two offshore vessels owned by another unnamed seismic company.
Imtech Marine will provide technical coordination and project management for systems including automation, switchgear, power distribution, lighting and the entire cable network. In addition, Imtech will provide internal and external communication systems, including Inmarsat FleetBroadband, VSAT and GMDSS, as well as X- and S-band radar, ECDIS, compass, GPS and VDR.
The two offshore vessels are scheduled for delivery in 2014. “In this challenging project innovative solutions and experience in the construction of seismic vessels is needed, in particular for the very special and unique needs of the electronic chart system and the autopilot,” Imtech Marine Germany Project Manager Thomas Wolf said in a statement.
