CONTRACTS ViaSat Wins VSAT Contracts in Saudi ArabiaViaSat received contracts worth about $6 million from High Capabilities Telecom (Hicap) to expand a demand assigned multiple access (DAMA) VSAT network to provide connections for a variety of advanced networking applications in Saudi Arabia, ViaSat announced July 16.
The applications include LAN connections, videoconferencing, file transfer, Internet access and communications on the move. The DAMA VSAT full-mesh system will enable the Hicap network to establish on-demand voice or data connections via satellite, and to automatically restore communications in the case of any terrestrial network interruptions. With the addition of the ViaSat networks, Hicap now runs 14 similar VSAT networks in the Middle East region.
