U.S. Civil Government Market Opportunities Too Good to Ignore

It seems strange these to use the terms "civil government opportunities" and "domestic" in the same sentence while discussing the U.S. satellite market, especially during a time when a number of analysts are pouring over budget shortages in an effort to project government market losses. While civil government satellite projects have flourished for some time in Latin America, Europe, Africa and recently Asia due to natural disasters, the United States civil market is starting to transform into a viable investment.
The key factor is the U.S. government's budget for federal agency network infrastructure upgrades. In this e-letter, we highlight opportunities and excitement for satellite players looking for business with the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration, as well as the U.S. government and military's global investments and Eastern European's broadband services push.
Coming off of the satellite conference season over the last couple of months, its clear that every satellite vertical market is giving these opportunities at least a fraction of their attention. Even if companies are not directly involved with civil government markets, they are keeping tabs on their customers' activities as they may find themselves selling bandwidth or terminals to support these civil projects in the near future.
