Advantech Wireless announced that its RF and microwave divisions have been acquired by Baylin Technologies. Previously, Baylin’s only wholly owned subsidiary was a 40-year-old pure play antenna company called Galtronics that designs and manufactures antennas for mobile, networking and small cell/Distributed Antenna System (DAS) applications. Baylin had been actively searching to acquire a complementary technology company.

According to Advantech Wireless, the acquisition will allow the company to immediately accelerate growth in its wireless infrastructure segment by broadening its product offerings and providing access to new verticals and geographies.

Advantech founder David Gelerman will retain the Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) part of the business, but has signed a two-year consulting agreement to support Baylin with the RF and microwave business as needed. Advantech stated it will remain committed to the Dorval, Quebec area.
